Third round for snowboarding [3eme round pour le snowboard]
I'm back in San Jose after another WE in Tahoe, and this time I almost lose my third round by KO...
[Je suis de retour a San Jose apres un nouveau WE a Tahoe, et cette fois ci, j'ai presque perdu mon 3eme round par KO...]
I went with Jan and Daniel this time, so only two Germans and a French, a very European group.
[J'y suis allee avec Jan et Daniel, le groupe etait donc seulement compose de deux Allemand et d'une Francaise, tres europeen comme groupe. comme vous pouvez le constater.]
Well let start the story with my stupid "Faux pas" at the door of the cabin Friday night. I felt on the ice and twist my ankle, it wasn't exactly what we can call a very good start. Anyway, I didn't' want to wait my all WE in the cabin so I decided to try my brand new snowboard and see if my ankle would resist. Saturday we were under a storm with wind, snow, rain and cold weather....
[Bon, l'histoire commence avec un stupide faux-pas a la porte du chalet vendredi soir. J'ai glisse sur la glace et j'ai tordu ma cheville. Ce n'etait pas ce que l'on peut appeler un bon depart. Quoiqu'il en soit, je n'ai pas voulu passer tout mon WE enfermee dans le chalet, j'ai alors decide d'essayer quand meme mon nouveau snowboard avec le risque d'empirer ma petite entorce. Les conditions climatiques samedi matin etaient plutot extremes: vent, neige, pluie et froid....]
But the magic word was "fresh powder", and after some hesitations we went to Northstar. And in California, march 25th, we had incredible snow conditions, it's just amazing.
[Mais le mot magique est "fraiche poudreuse", et apres queqlues hesitations nous sommes alles a Northstar. C'est assez exceptionnel mais en Californie, le 25 mars 2006, les conditions d'enneigement sont incroyables.]
By the way this day was pretty awful for me. I did one run and felt badly, my ankle was OK when I ride but not good at all when I felt. I think that the addition of new board, difficult weather conditions and my apprehensions with my ankle wasn't really a good mix to make me appreciate the day.
[Mais ce jour a ete plutot horrible pour ma part. J'ai fait une descente et je suis tombee assez brutalement. Ma cheville tenait le coup assez bien quand je descendais "sans tomber" mais lors des chutes, c'etait une toute autre histoire. Je pense que le cumul d'une nouvelle planche, des conditions climatiques difficiles et mon apprehension avec ma cheville etaient un peu trop pour que je puisse apprecier cette journee.]
I stopped one hour and a half in the lodge but I get so bored and the weather conditions were a little better so I tried again. And at the end of the day, I was frustrated but not totally discouraged.
[Je me suis arrete 1h30 a l'interieur (immenses lodge ou on peu boire ou manger) mais je me suis tellement ennuyee et les conditions climatiques etant un peu meilleures, j'ai decide de retourner sur les pistes. A la fin de la journee, J'etais frustree mais pas completement decouragee.]
My new board is way more difficult to ride than the beginner boards I used before... But I've bought an intermediate board so I knew that it would be a little harder to catch up. Honestly I didn't thought that it would be so difficult and frustrating....
[Mon nouveau snowboard est beaucoup plus difficile a manier que les precedents que j'avais loues. Mais comme j'ai achete un niveau intermediaire (je deviens super pretencieuse ca m'appendra...), je savais que ce serait un peu plus difficile au debut. Honnetement je n'aurais pas pense que ce soit si difficile et frustrant.]
Fortunately we had a good "apres ski" let check out the size of the maragritas and the quantity of pasta!!!!
Yes I confirm, we were only 3 to eat and not 15, if you look at the quantities, the doubt is legitimate...
[Heureusement, on a eu une soiree "apres ski" tres sympa, regardez juste la taille des margaritas et la quantite de pates... Oui oui nous 'etions que 3 et pas 15!!! Si vous vous referez aux quantites, on peut legitimement emettre quelques doutes sur la question.]
The cabin wasn't really fancy but very convenient and inexpensive with a very nice view on the lake.I took the picture from the window of our cabin.

The second day was just very very nice with an incredible sun....

If you look at the sign "easiest way", I promised I went straight on this direction.... It was out of question I would take anything but the "easiest way".
[Le second jour etait juste tres tres agreable avec un superbe soleil. Si vous regarez le paneau sur la photo "easiest way=chemin le plus simple", je vous promets une chose, j'ai suivi scrupuleusement cette indication. Il etait hors de question que je prenne un autre chemin.]
It turn out to be not so easy for someone not able to make a turn anymore, but well.....So for my snowboarding level the beginning was quite hard, I wasn't able to make any correct turn and I lost all my confidence... So it made things even worst....
[En fait, ce chemin n'etait pas si facile, surtout pour quelqu'un qui n'etait plus capable d'enchainer le moindre virage. En ce qui concerne mon niveau en snowboard le debut a ete plutot difficile, je n'etais plus capable de declencher de virages correctement et j'ai perdu tout ma faible confiance, ce qui rendait les choses bien pires.]
But well, after a certain time, even if my ankle didn't react very well, I think I had been able to recover some confidence, and I even enjoy my last runs....
So I'm ready for a forth round next WE....
[Mais bon, apres un certain temps, meme si ma cheville ne reagissait pas super bien, j'ai tout de meme reussit a regagner un peu de confiance et j'ai meme apprecie mes dernieres descentes. Je suis donc prete pour une 4eme sortie le WE prochain.]
The suspense is still there: Am I'm going to be able to have as much fun on snowboard than on ski, the question is still open.
[C'est toujours le suspense, serais'je capable d'avoir autant de plaisir sur un snowboard que sur mes ski? La question reste ouverte.]
